The Mask Project
Northwood has partnered with Aging 2.0 and volunteer sewers across HRM to provide masks for its Long-Term Care and Home Care clients and tenants. Cloth masks provide some protection and peace of mind for clients and for staff caring for them.
Since launching this initial call to action, the response has been awesome and Northwood continues to make good use of all the donated cloth masks. Masks can be dropped off at the Northwood Corporate Office on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 AM to 2 PM.
This initiative has increased cloth mask production quickly. Northwood has an amazing network of sewers now but please get in touch if you would like to join the effort. We will continue utilizing these masks for the foreseeable future. The Northwood Volunteer Coordinator is Ruth Ellen Jackson.
- A good alternative to elastic is using stretch cotton or Lycra for around the ears. It is gentle on the ears and has just enough elasticity.
- We do still have some fabric available.
