Advocacy Distinction Award: Bill VanGorder

Bill is committed to being a voice for seniors and has served on many boards and committees to support his advocacy work. He is a member of the National Board of Directors of CARP- A New Vision of Aging for Canada. Bill was the founding Chair of the CARP Nova Scotia Chapter and is now Past Chair & Senior Spokesman of the provincial chapter.

Bill is also the immediate Past Chair of the Nova Scotia Advisory Committee on Seniors’ Issues, The Group of IX, a Board Member of the Serving Seniors Alliance Cooperative, a member of the board and past Chair of the Theatre Arts Guild and the co-founder of 100 Men Who Give A Damn – Halifax. His passion and commitment has not gone unnoticed and has been called upon as a speaker on seniors’ issues in Atlantic Canada and nationally.

Bill is a strong advocate of Northwood and a proud advocate for seniors’ issues. Bill and his wife Esther live in Halifax and they are both certified national Nordixx Nordic Pole Walking instructors. Bill has even offered Nordic Pole Walking classes at Northwood’s Bedford campus.
