Two Special Wishes Granted
The Jean MacLean and Zillah Bragg Wish Fund has made more wishes come true for two Northwood residents!
Day Trip to the Canaan Country Music Fest
On July 2nd, Carrie McNeil, 10 Poplar River, Northwood Halifax attended the Canaan Country Music Festival in the Annapolis Valley. She was accompanied by fellow resident and friend, Shannon Sweet; caregivers Heather Euloth, LPN and Lisa Duffenais, PCW; and bus driver, Ray.
With VIP passes in hand, the group not only had the opportunity to listen to many great artists, but to also meet several of them as well. “It was a great life experience for me and something I chose to do for myself, on my own,” says Carrie. “I’d do it 10 times over again if I could.”
For Mary Ann Jones, having a laptop is not only her connection to her friends and family, but also an important tool for her writing and love of social media. When her old laptop stopped working, she was crushed. Thanks to a recommendation from recreation therapy, Mary Ann applied to the Bragg Wish Fund and received funding for a new laptop!
“I felt really warm inside knowing that people would care enough to help me,” says Mary Ann. “Thank you so much. This laptop has made such a big difference in my life!”
The Jean MacLean and Zillah Bragg Wish Fund is thanks to a partnership with the John & Judy Bragg Family Foundation and the Northwood Foundation. The Fund grants wishes to residents living in long term care, both at Northwood and at rural care facilities throughout Nova Scotia. Application forms are available online at northwoodfoundation.ca or by calling the Northwood Foundation at 902-454-3069.
